PM20

PM20 is the complete renovation of a 110 m² apartment located on Paseo Mallorca, in the heart of Palma. The owners, who live in Ibiza, wanted a home where they could spend more time whenever they were in the city.

The apartment's location was one of its greatest assets, but the original layout had become outdated. The kitchen was separated from the living and dining areas, and much of the apartment was organized around corridors and transitional spaces, resulting in an inefficient use of the available floor area.

The project completely reconfigures the apartment, bringing together the main living areas into a single open-plan space. The kitchen becomes an integral part of the day area, with a central island that naturally connects the kitchen, dining room, and living room.

The removal of partition walls allows natural light to flow more freely throughout the apartment, creating a brighter, more spacious environment while strengthening the relationship between each of the living spaces.

The new layout makes better use of the apartment's 110 m², minimizing circulation areas and maximizing the functionality of every square metre. Each room feels more spacious without increasing the overall footprint.

The intervention also focused on less visible details, such as integrating built-in wardrobes, concealing doors, and resolving storage through continuous bespoke joinery. This cohesive approach creates a clean, ordered interior while enhancing both functionality and visual continuity.

Oak wood, natural stone, and a palette of neutral finishes define the apartment's interior. The restrained selection of materials is carried throughout the home, creating a sense of continuity and cohesion.

One of the key features preserved during the renovation was the original stone wall. Rather than concealing it, the design incorporates it as an integral element of the project, adding texture, warmth, and character to the contemporary interior.

The continuity of materials and bespoke joinery allows the apartment to be experienced as a unified whole. The new layout enables natural light to flow freely throughout the home, enhancing the sense of openness and spaciousness.

The project strips away everything unnecessary, allowing the architecture, space, and carefully selected materials to take centre stage.

PM20 transforms a compartmentalised apartment into an open, light-filled home designed for contemporary living. The new layout makes better use of the available space, creating a more functional and fluid environment that reflects a modern way of living.
