Mormaiquel House

Mormaiquel House is located on a 35,000 m² rural estate in Biniagual, a small village in the heart of Mallorca, surrounded by vineyards and overlooking the Serra de Tramuntana. The house blends into this agricultural landscape, responding to the scale and character of the site.

Each space is oriented towards the landscape while also opening onto the rear of the plot, encouraging cross-ventilation and allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the house.

The house was designed for a local couple and their animals. From the outset, it was conceived as a single-storey home. On a plot of this size, this approach allowed every room to maintain a direct relationship with the outdoors.

The entire home is arranged on a single level. The covered porch, terraces and garden form part of the home's daily circulation, extending the use of the main living spaces outdoors.

The architecture maintains a low profile, allowing the house to blend into the landscape without competing with it.

The materials respond to the setting in which the house is located. The façade combines a sand-coloured finish with walls built from limestone extracted from the site itself, a material that is also used throughout the interiors.

Porcelain flooring with a limestone finish runs through the main living spaces. Microcement is used in the bathrooms, while natural wood features in the kitchen and much of the furniture.

The owners took part in the selection of the furniture, combining wood, wicker and textiles in neutral tones.

Outside, the covered porch combines white-painted concrete beams with a reed roof, a traditional solution that provides shade during the summer months.

Mormaiquel House was conceived as a home designed to live in close contact with the landscape. Its layout, orientation and materials respond to the conditions of the site, allowing the house to blend naturally into its surroundings among the vineyards of Biniagual.
