Architecture and Interior Design: Why It’s Best to Integrate Them Within the Same Team.
A Single Vision and a Better Result
Entrusting both the architecture and interior design of a project to the same team allows all the elements that make a home unique to be aligned from the very beginning: layout, structure, materials, lighting, atmosphere… nothing is left to chance.
It is about designing with a holistic perspective that combines functionality with aesthetics, while also optimizing time and costs.
Smooth Communication, Faster Decisions
Having a single technical and creative point of contact greatly simplifies decision-making and the management of changes. It helps avoid contradictions between teams, errors caused by outdated versions of plans, or partial solutions that can increase construction costs. Everything remains under the same direction, with a shared language and without duplicating efforts.
Saving Time and Budget
In one of our most recent projects in Mallorca, by taking responsibility for both the architecture and the interior design from the very beginning, we were able to define key aspects during the design phase, such as built-in furniture, the kitchen, lighting, and materials. This allowed us to refine the budget from the outset, secure better prices during the tender process, and avoid additional costs during construction.
In addition, the close coordination between design and technical supervision enabled us to prepare a complete and precise bill of quantities, which is essential for ensuring the quality of the execution and meeting the planned deadlines.
Avoiding Changes Mid-Construction
One of the most complex situations during construction is having to introduce changes once permits have already been approved, the contract with the builder has been signed, and the work has begun. Each modification requires reviewing documentation, renegotiating prices, and in some cases applying for new permits.
In addition, it can affect the exterior design, urban planning regulations, or even the pace of construction. For this reason, integrating interior design from the very beginning not only improves the final result — it also avoids many headaches.
A Detail-Oriented Project, Not Just Decoration
In our studio, we understand interior design as an integral part of the architectural project. We design everything that forms part of the living environment: from outdoor kitchens to enclosures, including technical lighting, landscaping, and signage. Each element contributes to creating a coherent visual and functional identity.
This holistic vision is only possible when the team responsible for the design understands both regulations and structural requirements, as well as atmosphere, proportions, and aesthetic sensitivity.
Bringing architecture and interior design together within a single studio not only adds beauty and coherence, it also reduces risks, optimizes resources, and ensures a smoother experience for the client.
